After years of collecting all things decorative and interesting (vintage and non-vintage)
Barbara Zionce and Darrell Mell of Easton, CT opened Hedgehog & Company in 2010.
Their goal is to provide unique and one-of-a-kind items for home decor: art, antiques,
furnishings and a wide variety of accessories.
A life-long artist, Barbara started her career as an art director for several NYC Ad Agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi. Her interest in antiques and interior design lead her to pursue a Certificate in Fine & Decorative Arts and Appraisal studies at NYU in conjunction with Sotheby’s.
This lead to a new career working for Architects and Interior Designers in NYC and CT where she enjoyed researching historically accurate materials, fixtures and furniture for many interior and exterior restoration projects of historic and landmark buildings.
Darrell started his career in the broadcast division of AT&T in NYC where he developed an expertise in television fundraising. Over the years he has worked on campaigns for numerous celebrity charity fundraisers- including Jerry Lewis and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Dennis James and United Cerebral Palsy and Danny Thomas and the St Jude’s Children’s Hospital. He also led a fundraising program for Covenant House- an organization that helps
New York’s homeless teenage children.
Eventually Darrell started his own direct marketing firm- producing a full array of multi-media fundraising programs for the non-profit market.
Today Darrell and Barbara specialize in buying and selling art, antiques and a wide variety of decorative objects and accessories.
